Abstract   22 cases of primary gastrointestinal lymphoma were reviewed, which were confirmed by op- eration at the Department of Surgery, City Hospital, East Area of Seoul and Chonnam Univer- sity Bospital during past 5 years from May 1988 to April 1993. #1) The primary sites of lymphoma were stomach in 9 cases(40.9/ ), small intestine in 7 cases (31.8#%), and colon in #4 cases(18.2%). The 2 cases developed synchronously at colon & sma11 in- testine. Z) The 7th decade was the mo#st prevalent age group(31.8%), and the ratio of male to female was I.S: l. 3) The major symptoms #k signs were abdominal pain(86.3#%), weight loss(59.1%), and palpable abdominal mass(27.3%). Hunger pain was presented in 4#4.4'/ of patients with gastric lympho- ma. 4) The histologic findings of lymphoma were histiocytic in 17 cases(77#.3%), mixed form in 3 cases(13.6%), and undifferenciated in 2 cases(9.1%) according to the Rappaport classification. In classification by Working formulation, there were intermediate grade in 19 cases, high grade in 3 cases. 5) The preo#perative complication were intestinal obstruction with intussuception in 3 cases, intestinal perforation in #1 case, and ascites in I case. 6) The patients were treated by surgery & postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The curative resection was performed in 86.4%. After operation the l5 cases were treated with various combination chemotherapy: MACOP-B in 8 cases, COP-BLAM in 4 cases, BACOP in 2 cases, and CHOP in 1 case. Three patients were treated with postoperative radiotherapy- 7) 5 patients with stage III or IV bowel lymphoma had died between 1 month & 5 months after operation. The major causes of death were sepsis. 8) One case of gastric pseudolymphoma was revealed multiple lymphomatous polyposis on 4 years & 5 months after operation. 9) The mean survival time were longer in stage I & II than III % IV, in male than female, in stomach than boweL
